If you are concerned about the possibility of wifi radiation, here is what is officially known:
- Wi-Fi radiation, like other radiofrequency (RF) emissions used by wireless technologies (e.g., mobile phones, Bluetooth, routers), falls under non-ionizing radiation. This means it does not carry enough energy to damage DNA or cause chemical changes in the body - unlike ionizing radiation such as X-rays or gamma rays.
- World Health Organization (WHO): Current scientific evidence does not show any harmful health effects from exposure to Wi-Fi networks or other RF sources at levels below international safety guidelines.
- ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection): Has established safety limits for RF radiation that are not exceeded by typical Wi-Fi devices.
- Typical radiation levels of Wi-Fi devices: Wi-Fi routers emit RF radiation at very low power levels – usually between 0.1 and 1 watt.
- The typical exposure for someone near a router is thousands of times below legally permitted limits.
- There is no evidence that long-term use of Wi-Fi devices causes cancer, infertility, or neurological disorders.
- Some studies have explored possible links, but the results have been inconsistent or statistically insignificant.
